With almost 360 degrees unobstructed views and the living area overlooking the Kostverlorenvaart (canal), this apartment is a rare find in Amsterdam, particularly while being located so close to the historical center. The Jordaan with the iconic Westertoren presents itself right in front of the living room. Wide open skies, typically known here in the Netherlands, can be experienced to their full variety. Plenty of light floods through the rooms during the course of the day, adding beauty and shifting atmospheres. The canal along the building gives view to a monumental wind powered Dutch sawmill and keeps producing surprising scenes: from swans with chicks floating by, to tall sailing ships at night with masts reaching all the way up to the living room. The place can at times feel like living inside a poem. Certainly, it offers space, comfort and privacy in abundance and is a real urban haven to relax.
Following the communal entrance, an elevator provides easy access to the apartment on the 5th floor. Once inside, a long hallway connects the rooms, all of which are generously spaced. The master bedroom comes with a very large closet and plenty of storage room. It gives direct access to the South-West facing balcony, with afternoon sun and sunset. The bathroom has 2 washbasins, a separate shower, and a freestanding bathtub. A washer and dryer are installed in a closed cubit by the bathroom entrance; the separate toilet is next door. Continuing along, the hallway hosts another spacious built-in storage cubit. It then gives way to the open kitchen, which is very well organized, has all appliances of high standard and is just a pleasure to cook in. The dining room and living room unfold in front of the kitchen. The entire living space is framed by a glass front with sliding doors, opening up to the South-East facing French balcony overlooking the canal, the historical center and sunrise. Behind the kitchen lies a multifunctional 2nd bedroom which can be used as a guest room or office.
Shops, restaurants and facilities are all around. The Jordaan is at walking distance and every Saturday, the best biological produce (and apple pie) is sold at Noordermarkt. The nearby Westerpark is great for sports, a walk, or a leisurely picnic. Next to it, Westergasfabriek is a multipurpose venue and offers just about everything from culture, art and dance to food and festival. De Hallen is another popular multipurpose venue nearby.
Public transport is well taken care of with bus lines 21 and 18 stopping around the corner, as well as tram line 3 and 10. Central Station and Sloterdijk train station are a 10-minutes bike ride away; reaching the Ringroad A10 takes just a few minutes by car. Last but not least, Haarlemmerweg provides a quick way straight out towards the beach.
